Peter Jia has a BA in China and MA in Anthropology from Macquarie University, and PhD from the University of Sydney. He has been working in East Asian archaeology for many years. With broad interests, he particularly studies early contact between East and West (Xinjiang, China), social, cultural and economic interaction between farmer, forager and nomads, development of social complexity as well as environmental archaeology in late prehistory. He maintains a special interest in application of archaeological science: starch residue/plant seeds analysis and PXRF obsidian elemental examination. His current research region is in northern China, including northwest, central and northeast China.
