Marcus is an undergraduate student studying ancient history at Macquarie University. He has broad interests in all aspects of the ancient world, but notably an emphasis on the contacts between the ancient west and east - Rome and China, or Graceo-Bactrian and Indo-Greek history, for instance - whence spawned his interest in asian studies. As such he is also interested in Silk Road studies, and the rich archaeoloical heritage of Central Asia. Nonethless he is also highly keen to learn more about the ancient worlds of India and China, to say nothing of the rich unwritten history of ancient south-east Asia. Thus, while more experienced in classical antiquity - with a moderate knowledge of Latin and Greek, he is expanding his horizons, trying to improve his Mandarin and classical Chinese, and hopes in the future to have knowledge of other major ancient languages, such as Sanskrit or Syriac.
