Dr. Gergely Csiky |
Gergely Csiky, PhD, works as a research assistant in the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, having studied Prehistoric and Early Medieval archaeology, History and Turkic Studies at the Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. As a research assistant during his PhD studies at ELTE he examined the thrusting and cutting weapons of the Avar Period (568 – first half of 9th c.). Gergely participated in the excavations of the Mission archéologique française en Mongolie (MAFM) at the Hunnic (Xiongnu) cemetery of Gol Mod for three field seasons between 2005 to 2007. His current research involves Byzantine archaeology, with his fieldwork mainly being in Anatolia.
