Translation: The ancient city of Oln Sum is also called the Prince of Zhao’s City. It was built in the Yuan period, and was a place where the Onggut Tribe dwelt for many centuries. The Tribal Chief Alaqus Digitquri submitted to Genghis Khan and was enfeoffed; his grandson Shuhunan was later further enfeoffed as the Prince of Zhao. This is where the Deninglu Commandery was located during the Yuan period, and it was an Onggut political, economic and cultural centre. The city wall is 960 metres long and 580 metres wide. There are the remains of many buildings in the city. The famous Wang Bode Feng Tang Ji stele, as well as valuable tombstone inscriptions in Uighur Mongolian script and ancient Syriac have been excavated. The city is of great significance for the study of Mongolian and Yuan history, especially the history of the Onggut Tribe, and of family and marriage relations between the Ongguts and the family clan of Chengghis Khan.
